MEDINA, Ohio – The city’s finance committee has approved a $2,000 donation to a Wayne County nonprofit that processes donated deer and distributes it to local food banks.

Mayor Dennis Hanwell said that two deer harvested in Medina through the city’s archery program have been donated to the Wayne County Chapter of Farms and Hunters Feeding the Hungry.

“This group shares the meat with Feeding Medina County, so our community does get the benefit of what they do,” Hanwell said.

Parks and Recreation Director Jansen Wehrley said the city has donated to the organization before and added the donation helps to offset the cost of processing the deer.
