MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Over 50 million people braced for severe weather Saturday as a powerful storm system moved out of eastern Texas and slammed parts of the Mississippi Valley. The threat of severe weather remains into Sunday as storms continue to charge east along the Gulf Coast.
The stage was set Saturday morning as warm, humid air surged from the Gulf into the Ark-La-Tex region, as well as the Mississippi Valley and the Ozarks.
The storm tapped into its fuel midday Saturday, as increasing atmospheric instability and wind shear supported supercells that produced hail , damaging winds and tornadoes.
Two reported tornadoes downed trees near Bismark, Arkansas as limited instability and cloud cover allowed for only a few severe storms to develop across parts of the Mississippi Valley and the
