NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - We continue to monitor a tropical wave that's heading towards the Caribbean Sea bringing upped chances for formation in the coming days.
The National Hurricane Center says that "recent satellite wind data and surface observations indicate the tropical wave currently crossing the Windward Islands still lacks closed circulation," but adds that radar and satellite images are showing shower and thunderstorm activity that's starting to become organized.
The NHC forecasts this system to continue moving "quickly westward at 20 to 25-mph which could limit development over the next day or so," but environmental conditions will become more favorable for it slow down in the central Caribbean Sea by the middle of this week.
