DERBY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Get ready to be inspired by a group of Derby high schoolers who are coming together and tying blankets for kids in need.

These cozy blankets care oming together and they'll soon comfort someone special.

"We put out a call to action for our kids to say anyone interested? And we were overwhelmed. 23 kids signed up right away to be able to come in and tie blankets today," Principal at Derby High School Jennifer Olson said.

Derby High School students are helping out the "Blanket fairy," with whom we've done stories, providing blankets to kids who need them most. Kids facing abuse, in foster care, or needing comfort.

"Knowing that these kids are getting a warm hug at night. Maybe if they feel down or anything. This can bring them up," senior Breanna Perez said.
