GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The youngest patients at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital experienced some Halloween magic on Friday night.
Pediatric patients and their families enjoyed a trunk-or-treat style event and a haunted "Scare-apy Garden" complete with festive food, games and trick-or-treating.
Hospital staff and families decorated dozens of tables and handed out candy and goodies to the children.
“It’s to make sure that kids who are hospitalized have the same sort of accessibility and same sort of experience as every other kid on Halloween,” said Penny Adams, an occupational therapist who helped organize the event.
There was a cider bar, chili, a specialty coffee bar, a bunny petting area, games and multi-sensory Halloween fun.
The event was hosted by the Mary Free Bed Kids inpat
