OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A new park is set to be constructed in Overland Park, transforming the site of the former Marty Pool, which closed in 2022.

The park, named Marty Park, will feature a splash pad, hammock grove, playground, pollinator garden, trike loop and grilling station, with a total project cost of $2.75 million.

Marty Pool, originally built in 1993, was one of six city pools in Overland Park but became the least attended, leading to its closure in 2022.

The park sits on W 74th Street between Conser and Santa Fe Drive.
