NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Audubon Zoo is roar-ing with excitement for the arrival of some new friends.
Three African lion cubs were born on Oct. 19 to parents Kali and Arnold. They are the second litter born to the lion and lioness and has made history as the fist at the zoo to have three surviving cubs in a litter.
"These cubs are part of the African Lion Species Survival Plan, which promotes healthy, genetically diverse populations within Association of Zoos and Aquariums institutions," said Audubon Nature Institute President and CEO Michael J. Sawaya and Chair in Conservation Leadership. L. Ronald Forman.
Zoo officials state the cubs are healthy and active and that Kali is "showing excellent maternal care." They will remain behind the scenes for about 12 weeks allowing time for bondin
