PORTLAND, Oregon — A statue of Abraham Lincoln that stood in Portland for nearly a century before being removed during 2020 protests is set to return to the South Park Blocks early next year, city officials said.
The sculpture, one of three presidential statues toppled in 2020, has been fully restored and is now in the city’s possession, Darion Jones, assistant director of Portland’s Office of Arts and Culture, said.
The Lincoln statue is expected to be reinstalled in winter or spring 2026 along with new interpretive signage providing context about the 16th president’s legacy. Local historians are developing the text that will appear on the panels, Jones said.
