On Thursday at 5:01 p.m. the National Weather Service released a coastal flood statement valid for Friday between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. for Queens and Nassau County.

"1 foot or less of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline," explains the weather service. "Another round of minor coastal flooding is likely during high tide early Friday morning."

The weather service comments, "If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property."
