NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – One of New York City’s most difficult physical feats is nearly here.

The New York City Marathon will draw tens of thousands of runners from across the world on Nov. 2.

It’s 26.2 miles and touches every borough, shutting down streets and bringing crowds to the streets to cheer on the physically brave. Last year, 55,642 runners crossed the finish line.

Here’s everything you need to know about the New York City Marathon:

When does the New York City marathon start?

The first runners will take off at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2. The last wave of runners, Wave 5, will start at 11:30 a.m. Finishers will be recorded until 10 p.m.

What is the route?

The race starts on Staten Island, then travels along Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn, up through Greenpoint and across the Queens
