SPOKANE, Wash. – The YWCA Spokane has launched its "Hope for the Holidays" campaign to support families affected by domestic violence. This effort aims to assist 90 families struggling during the Christmas season.

The Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence reported that 49 people have died from homicide in Spokane County between 2014 and 2024. Since 1997, more than 1,200 people have died from domestic violence in the area.

Jemma Riedel-Johnson from YWCA Spokane emphasized the organization's mission. "Our mission is eliminating racism and empowering women," she said. "The majority of our services are coming along survivors and meeting them where they're at."
