New Mexico’s transportation agency needs consistent state funding to tackle the state’s many road challenges, the head of the department told lawmakers Monday — and will seek bonding authority from the Legislature to do so.
Transportation Secretary Ricky Serna told members of the Transportation Infrastructure Revenue Subcommittee Monday that the agency’s “key priority” in the upcoming legislative session is a bill that would give the department the authority to issue up to $1.5 billion in bonds to fund transportation projects on state-owned roads.
