DIGGINS, MO - A major project to upgrade a dangerous section of U.S. 60 through Webster County is well underway.
In recent weeks, MoDOT contractors have started construction on a project to improve traffic and safety between Fordland and Diggins. The result will be the elimination of multiple intersections and the upgrading of portions of 60 to full freeway status.
For decades, the segment has been of particular concern for motorists and officials for two reasons. First, it includes multiple crossover intersections. Second, a busy BNSF Railway line follows the highway and crosses several adjoining roads.
According to Ozarks First reporting over the years, the section of U.S. 60 through Webster County has seen several fatal crashes. The accidents have included collisions between vehicles
