MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - A 71-year-old woman died after she was struck by the driver of a Dodge Ram.

The crash happened around 3:36 a.m., Oct 25, on U.S. Highway 50 around mile post 84 near Olathe. She was walking westbound in the number two lane while the car was also heading west in the same lane. The driver struck the pedestrian from behind. The woman was run over after impact, according to Colorado State Patrol.

She was pronounced dead on the scene. The Montrose County Coroner's Office will identify the woman.

The driver of the Dodge Ram is a 19-year-old man. He did not have any injuries from the crash, CSP stated.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. CSP Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.
