The jail death of a man accused of molesting a boy at a Scots campsite has been confirmed by police as non-suspicious.

John Bell , 44, died at HMP Inverness on Saturday, November 8. He was being held on remand at the prison after he was charged with sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy at the campsite near Loch Ness in July.

A major investigation was launched by police at the time after the child was allegedly approached within his tent . The alleged sex attack took place while the boy's parents camped nearby.

The boy’s father woke up after hearing his son's distress and reported seeing the alleged attacker flee the scene.

Police traced Bell , of Grangemouth, and charged him in September.
