SAN JACINTO COUNTY, Texas — A search resumed along the Trinity River on Monday, less than a day after a father disappeared while trying to rescue his son and one of his son's friends from a capsized kayak, according to San Jacinto County Sheriff Sam Houston.
Deputies responded to the Camilla boat ramp Sunday evening after witnesses reported that a kayak had overturned in choppy river conditions and two teens were missing.
Houston said the father of one of the teens entered the water in an attempt to save his son and his son’s friend, but did not resurface.
The bodies of the 14-year-old and the 15-year-old were found later Sunday night, according to the sheriff’s office. The search for the 53-year-old father was suspended overnight and resumed at 7 a.m. Monday.
