SHREVEPORT, La. — Veterans Day, a federal holiday marked each year on Nov. 11, was celebrated Tuesday to honor those who have served or currently serve in the U.S. armed forces. Many paused to recognize the sacrifices made by those service members.

Residents were encouraged to submit pictures honoring themselves or a loved one who is a U.S. veteran.

Dozens of vets were featured in a special slideshow made available online and on social media.
