A French town has been left in shock after a five-week-old baby horrifically died after being 'drowned by her mum' after the baby's parents had an explosive argument

A mother allegedly drowned her five-week-old baby after an argument broke out between her and the baby's dad.

The woman, 31, was arrested by police after she fled her own home while her baby lay dead , cops said. This horror incident unfolded, in Bayeux, France , after the child's mum and dad rowed at the house on Friday night, and into the early hours of Saturday. The dad reportedly left the mum and five-week-old in the flat and walked away. French prosecutors said the mum then drowned the newborn in a bathtub, on November 14, before she sent a chilling message to the dad.
