Councillor Jeniffer Wyness questioned if the motion was related to a Palestinian flag raising at city hall

Flags of other countries can continue to fly at Calgary city hall, after a councillor’s proposal to stop hoisting other nations’ banners was shot down at a council meeting Tuesday.

A proposal to amend the city’s flag policy by banning national flags other than Canada’s was rejected in a 7-8 vote, following a brief council debate over the urgency of the request and whether or not raising another country’s flag amounted to politicization.
