HYATTSVILLE, Md. — A Hyattsville police officer was arrested on Thursday after a grand jury indictment accused the officer of raping and sexually abusing a minor.

Jonathan Monge was named in the criminal indictment. The charges against Monge include sexual abuse against a minor, second-degree rape and two sex offense charges. When and where Monge allegedly carried out these crimes was left out of the indictment.

The Prince George's County state's attorney's office under Tara Jackson announced the indictment against Monge on Thursday.

"Due to the victim's age and the sensitive nature of these allegations, no additional details will be released at this time," the state's attorney's office said.

Monge had served Hyattsville P.D. for five years, reaching the rank of corporal.
