ANN ARBOR, MI — With just over two years to go before gas-powered leaf blowers are banned year-round in Ann Arbor, the city is offering new financial incentives to help residents make the transition to alternative yard care equipment.

The city announced a new rebate program specifically for rakes and electric leaf blowers starting Nov. 21 through the end of the year or until funds are spent.

The rebates, available to all Ann Arbor residents, can be used to purchase any rake or electric/battery-powered leaf blower at any retailer, according to the city’s sustainability office.

To receive a rebate, residents must trade in an old gas-powered leaf blower by recycling it through a process laid out on the city’s gas leaf blower phase-out webpage.
