EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The Friday opening of Riverside Drive has been delayed by rain.
Earlier this week , officials with EWSU said they hoped to open one lane in each direction on Friday.
They tell us now, they hope to open mid morning Monday.
The road has been fully closed since April after a sinkhole formed and closed part of the road in February.
It’s been three weeks since officials hoped to open lanes within two weeks.
“The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility had anticipated reopening Riverside Drive today, pending favorable weather conditions. However, the sustained rainfall throughout the week delayed the restoration work at the sinkhole site. Crews are continuing to make progress as conditions permit, and EWSU now expects to open one lane in each direction by mid-morning
