Hundreds of chickens spilled out onto I-5 early Friday morning after a semi-truck delivering them overturned.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), troopers have been clearing the chickens from I-5 since the crash occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. Friday.
“With hundreds of chickens across the roadway, traffic was getting by in the left lane while the scene was being cleaned up,” WSP Trooper Kameron Watts said.
The crash happened along northbound I-5 in the DuPont area near Mounts Road. The highway was officially cleared of chickens by 5:50 a.m. A seven-mile backup on I-5 formed from this accident. As many as three lanes were closed at one point as troopers collected the chickens.
