A tow truck driver was killed Friday night after a crash caused their vehicle to plunge from an overpass on Route 140 in Freetown.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash at around 6 p.m. Preliminary findings indicate the tow truck was in the left travel lane when it was struck by another vehicle traveling in the right lane, the statement reads.

The impact propelled the tow truck off the overpass and onto Washburn road, which runs immediately below. Police said the driver of the striking vehicle was uninjured and remained on scene.
