JACKSON, MI — A driver ran a red light Saturday night and the car hit a police cruiser on its way to the Jackson County Jail to book a man who was arrested, police said.
Police and rescue crews responded at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, to the intersection of West Michigan Avenue and South Jackson Street in Jackson for a report of a crash with injuries, Jackson Police Department Lt. John Lillie said.
A Blackman-Leoni Township public safety officer was heading to the jail with an arrested person in the back seat when the other vehicle hit it, Lillie said.
The officer and the driver of the at-fault vehicle, a 27-year-old man, were not injured in the crash. The man who was arrested had injuries deemed non-life-threatening and was taken to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital for treatment, Lillie s
