LAGRANGE, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting involving an officer who fired their weapon during an attempted arrest when the suspect threatened officers with a machete in LaGrange.

Just after midnight on Nov. 25, officers tried to make contact with a suspect, Cody Porter, who had multiple felony warrants for his arrest after spotting him walking on Laurel Lane.

Porter failed to obey lawful commands and fled from officers, police said.

According to police, as officers tried to block his escape path, they noticed Porter was armed with a machete and kept reaching into his waistband with his free hand, stating he was going to shoot the officers.
