CONYERS, Ga. — A lieutenant for the Conyers Police Department turned himself in to authorities after he was accused of misappropriation of donated property from a local business.

According to the police department, they requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) after concerns were raised regarding the acquisition and disposition of the property.

After the GBI looked into the inquiry regarding the allegations, an arrest warrant was later obtained for Lt. Cadena for theft by deception.

Lt. Cadena was arrested. He went willingly to the Rockdale County Jail after he was notified of the warrant, police said.

A separate internal investigation was initiated to determine if he violated departmental policies and procedures. He has been placed on administrative leave
