Two Pontiac boys were found by police to be severely malnourished as they ate sporadic meals of rice and were confined to their bedrooms with the windows screwed shut and the glass painted so the boys could not see outside, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
The accusations came as Arturo and Dulce Bazan, as well as Arturo's 24-year-old son Carlos Bazan-Hernandez, were charged with two counts of first-degree child abuse and two counts of torture, according to Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald's office. The 9- and 11-year-old boys are Arturo's sons.
The boys' parents were arraigned Tuesday and were ordered to be held in the Oakland County Jail without bail. If convicted, they face up to life in prison. Bazan-Hernandez has not been arraigned.
