Thanksgiving travel is expected to reach a new high in Indiana, with nearly 2 million Hoosiers planning trips spanning at least 50 miles, according to AAA estimates.

The number of travelers statewide is up 3% compared to last year, a AAA news release said, and it mirrors an increase of 1.6 million travelers nationwide.

About 82 million Americans are expected to travel during the Thanksgiving holiday period, which started Tuesday and ends Monday, the release said.
