Jefferson City police say a man accused of sexually assaulting a gas station employee and fleeing, gave officers his brother’s name and identification during the investigation , according to a new probable cause statement.
The man originally faced felony charges of first-degree sexual abuse, aggravated fleeing a stop and first-degree harassment, according to a Friday news release from the Jefferson City Police Department.
Police now identify the suspect as Claude Irumva, a Cole County resident. Authorities said Irumva initially provided his brother’s personal information to avoid apprehension.
According to court documents, officers responded at 2:48 a.m. on Friday morning to a reported sexual offense at a business on Ellis Boulevard.
