PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Replacing the aging Greenbrier Commons playground has been on the city’s radar for a while.
However, a recently awarded $150,000 NatureWorks Grant Program grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources means the project could come to fruition next year.
“We’ve been looking at the playground equipment at all of our parks for quite some time now,” Parma Heights Mayor Marie Gallo said. “Because Greenbrier is the most heavily trafficked park, that’s why it was the No. 1 priority,
“Playground equipment is very expensive, so we’ve been trying to secure grant funding. Fortunately, we applied and were awarded this grant.”
Parma Heights Recreation Director Mike Sedlak said the estimated total cost of the new playground, which will be ADA-compliant, is $235,000.
