LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - Lafayette County has issued an emergency order banning all outdoor burnings for local residents, according to records.

The order comes as exceptional drought conditions continue to create dry conditions throughout the Big Bend.

“The drought index continues to remain a significant threat level in North Florida and Lafayette County, and future forecasts predict continued dry conditions,” per the emergency order.

The emergency order bans fireworks, flares, and any outdoor burning devices, including grilling. The ban also includes all outdoor burning of yard trash, bonfires, household paper products, campfires, warming fires, outdoor fireplaces, chimeneas or cooking fires.
