ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A Roanoke City musician who recently signed a deal with Sony is using the money to create a studio to help children in the foster care system.

Theodore Jefferson, who performs as Ah_Jinx, moved through 30 foster homes growing up and found music helped him express himself. He now wants to give others that same outlet.

Jefferson is building his own studio with proceeds from his Sony recording contract to provide a creative space for foster children.

“Just like medication is an alternative to feeling better and feeling normal, so is music,” Jefferson said. Everything around us has a sound to it, and us walking every single day, we’re instruments ourselves. So if you can use what is inside of you to better you, it’s here.”
