POUGHKEEPSIE – A pie raffle at a Poughkeepsie social club on Wednesday night raised about $2,500 for a local food pantry. The annual event, dating back more than a decade, was started by club member Brian Laffin, and has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings.
The Shamrock members begin accepting donated pies, both homemade and store-bought, in the week leading up to the event and raffle them off to club members and the public on Thanksgiving Eve. This year, live entertainment was provided by former Shamrock Association President David Laffin, who, at one point, was accompanied by fellow Shamrock member Chris Malet.
