CLAY, Ky. (WFIE) - Officials with the Clay Fire Rescue say a home was destroyed by an house fire, early Sunday morning.

Crews were called to the home on East Elm Street around 4:10 a.m.

Firefighters say flames could be seen coming from the roof and windows.

In a Facebook post, officials say due to high winds and the house’s proximity to the Clay Post Office, additional assistance was needed.

Dixon, Wheatcroft, Providence, Poole, Sullivan, and Sturgis Fire Departments were called out.

Officials say no one was in the home at the time and no injuries were reported.

While the home was destroyed, firefighters say they were able to keep the damage to the Post Office to a minimum.

An investigation into the fire is ongoing.
