A 39-year-old Lakewood man was arrested and charged with setting three fires on Saturday, Nov. 29, authorities said.

At 10:30 p.m., Lakewood Township police and fire responded to a fire in the basement window well of a structure on East Eighth Street, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered two additional brush fires along railroad tracks in the area, Billhimer said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish all three fires, Billhimer said.

An investigation determined the structure fire was caused by a man, later identified as Israel Salgado-Miron utilizing an open flame to available combustible materials, Billhimer said.

The two brush fires were caused by Macron utilizing a hot set to a jackpot of fuel, Billhimer said.

Salgado-Miron was taken into custody and charged with aggravated arson and two counts of arson
