LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) found a vehicle in the Ohio River after witnesses say it drove off the waterfront.
LMPD said around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, First Division officers responded to a water rescue in the Ohio River near the Great Lawn area of Waterfront Park.
Dispatch advised officers that a tugboat on the river saw a car drive off the waterfront near Joe's Crab Shack.
Louisville Fire and LMPD's River Unit searched the area, a drone was also used in the search.
A police spokesperson said around 9 p.m., the vehicle was located but no victim was inside.
LMPD said due to swift currents Saturday night, a decision was made to continue searching Sunday morning for a victim and remove the vehicle from the river.
