After Republican Stacy Garrity won her first race for treasurer in 2020, she highlighted that incumbent Democrat Joe Torsella heavily outspent her campaign.
Mr. Torsella had raised upward of $2 million compared to less than $400,000 for Ms. Garrity, who then went on to out-raise Democrat Erin McClelland by almost $2 million in her re-election win last year.
Republicans now hope Ms. Garrity can persuade donors and voters — including many who may have previously backed Gov. Josh Shapiro — to help her replicate her 2020 win in an uphill battle to unseat the popular incumbent governor, who significantly out-raised and outspent his previous opponent, state Sen. Doug Mastriano.
