2LAKEWOOD TWP., N.J. – Traffic in and out of Lakewood is usually pretty congested, but today, it’s a worst case scenario.

A downed utility pole and wires have forced the closure of all northbound lanes on U.S. Route 9 near County Road 547 and 8th Street, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Traffic Operations Center South.

The incident occurred Monday morning, prompting emergency response teams to the scene.

Motorists are being diverted while crews work to remove debris and repair damaged power lines.

Authorities have not yet released an estimated time for reopening the roadway.
