BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Bowling Green has seen historic flooding this year, but in the coming years, the city is trying to put a stop to it by implementing a stormwater utility fee.
“We’re going to be able to provide a base level of service that’s higher than what we’ve been able to provide before," said Matt Powell, City of Bowling Green environmental manager.
The stormwater utility fee will charge all residents $4 a month. Businesses in Bowling Green will also be charged $4 for every 4,200 square feet, which the city calls an equivalent residential unit.
“If a commercial property has, let’s say, four or five ERUs, you would take four or five and multiply by four, and they’d be paying $20 or $25," said Jeff Meisel, city manager for Bowling Green.
