LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Our WKYT First Alert Weather Day continues into Tuesday as a winter storm targets the region to begin December.

This system arrives from southwest to northeast late this evening with the worst of the weather likely from 10pm this evening to 10am Tuesday.

Areas from the Bluegrass region, including Lexington, will start as a bit of a mix before going over to snow. This snow may become heavy for a few hours late tonight. This can put down several inches of snow from the Bluegrass Region north and northeast.

Farther south, rain starts things out before going over to a wintry mix then ending as snow late tonight or Tuesday morning. Much lighter accumulations are likely for southern and southeastern Kentucky.
