Authorities are investigating after a man was found shot to death in a field near his Harvey home.

The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim as 26-year-old Patrick Hamilton.

Hamilton's body was discovered Saturday evening about 7:30 p.m. when deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive man lying in a field in the 4200 block of Lac St. Pierre Drive , said Sgt. Brandon Veal, spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

Hamilton had been shot at least one time, the Sheriff's Office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not released any information about a motive or a suspect in the killing. No other details were immediately available.
