KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - A man has been arrested in Kinston, and his passenger is wanted after running from a traffic stop that led to the discovery of a handgun.
On Thursday, around 11:22 p.m., Kinston officers stopped a car on Greenmeade Drive.
Police say a front-seat passenger ran away after the vehicle pulled over.
They then arrested 43-year-old driver Tristan Rouse, who police say claimed that he did not know the passenger and referred to them as a ‘friend of a friend.’
Police searched the car and said they found a concealed handgun.
Rouse was charged with carrying a concealed gun and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He remains in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
Anyone with information on the identity of the passenger who ran away is encouraged to call the Kinston
