SHREVEPORT, La. – The Louisiana Supreme Court has set a hearing date for a Shreveport City Court judge who is recommended for suspension.

Judge Sheva Sims will appear before the court at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 in New Orleans.

The Judiciary Commission of Louisiana last month recommended Sims’ suspension without pay for a year for multiple instances of ethical misconduct.

The commission also wants her to pay $11,602 in court costs related to its months-long investigation.

Formal action is required by the state’s high court.

The commission’s investigation resulted from numerous complaints lodged against Sims by litigants, anonymous complainants and retired Justice Joseph Bleich, who served as a judge pro tem in City Court.
