Months before 38-year-old Cherie Shavon Ingram was found stabbed to death in a wooded area near North Broad Street in Gastonia, her boyfriend, Keon Latroy Pernell, was accused of stabbing her multiple times in a separate incident in eastern North Carolina, according to prosecutors.

Body camera footage featuring Pernell's confession to the eastern North Carolina stabbing, as well as footage that shows Ingram shortly after she was stabbed, was the subject of a suppression hearing on Monday, Dec. 1. Pernell's trial on a charge of first-degree murder in Ingram's death begins Tuesday with jury selection.
