MERRIMAC, Wis. (WKOW) -- The Merrimac Ferry is closed for the 2025 season, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

Crews will now turn to maintenance and repair work in preparation for the ferry to re-open in the spring.

In 2025, the ferry crossed the Wisconsin River 39,734 times and carried 208,823 vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians.

The ferry operates seasonally as a connection between Okee in Columbia County and Merrimac in Sauk County.
