MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — After a major road closure that impacted traffic for several hours, I-271 is now open in both directions from I-71 in Medina County to I-77 in Summit County.

At 3:11 p.m., the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reported that two lanes southbound and one lane northbound are open. "Please drive with caution through the area. Emergency personnel and roadside workers are continuing efforts to clean up the incident."

The closure was due to a crash involving a tanker truck rollover, according to ODOT.

The crash itself took place around 4 a.m. when a tanker carrying ethanol overturned in the northbound lanes near mile post 4 in Granger Township "when its driver fell asleep behind the wheel," according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
