Police in Cumbernauld are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set on fire.

At around 1am on Wednesday, December 3, officers received a report of an Audi A1 on fire outside a property on Old Tower Road.

The blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no injuries were reported.

Police Scotland has now stated that the fire is being treated as wilful and that enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Constable Martin Daly said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could help to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to contact us.”
