CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia State Parks officials announced Thursday that the main overlook at Coopers Rock State Forest has been closed to the public to allow for scheduled repairs and replacement of the pedestrian bridge.

The closure is anticipated to last several months, with officials expecting the work to be completed in July 2026.

“Ensuring the safety of our guests is our top priority,” said West Virginia State Parks acting chief Dillard Price. “This new bridge will provide a safer and more enjoyable way for visitors to experience one of West Virginia’s most iconic overlooks.”
