EAST LANSING – Never has fundraising been more critical to success in college athletics than now.

That made it a good time for Michigan State on Friday to land its largest influx in cash in university history with a $401 million donation from mega donors Greg and Dawn Williams.

The investment features $290 million earmarked to FOR SPARTA, a $1 billion capital initiative announced earlier in the week by athletic director J Batt, and $100 million will go to an entity formed by Spartan Ventures. There will also be $11 million donated to academic and extracurricular activities.
